The top 10 global power battery installation volumes in the first quarter are released!

On May 7, South Korean research institution SNE Research (hereinafter referred to as SNE) released the latest power battery statistics. In the first quarter of this year, the global installed capacity of power batteries was 221.8 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 38.8%, and the growth rate rebounded from 22% in the same period last year.

Compared with the same period last year, the top three in the world are still the same old faces, namely CATL, BYD and LG Energy Solution, while the rankings of the fourth to ninth companies have changed greatly.

Among the TOP10 companies, in the first quarter of 2025, except for Samsung SDI and Panasonic, the other 8 battery companies all achieved positive growth.


Among them, CATL, which ranks first in the global power battery installation volume, installed 84.9 GWh of power batteries in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 40.2%, accounting for 38.3% of the global market share, and is the only company in the world with a market share of more than 30%.


During the same period, BYD (002594.SZ) installed 37 GWh of power batteries, an increase of 62% over the same period last year, with a market share of 16.7%, ranking second in the world, and the gap with the third LG Energy Solution further widened to 6 percentage points. In the same period last year, BYD was only 1.4 percentage points ahead of LG Energy Solution.


South Korean battery manufacturer LG Energy Solution ranked third with an installed capacity of 23.8GWh, a year-on-year increase of 15.1%, and a market share of 10.7%.


South Korean SK On ranked fourth with an installed capacity of 10.5GWh, a year-on-year increase of 35.6%, and a market share of 4.7%. In the first quarter of this year, the fourth place in the world was the South Korean company SK ON, which rose two places year-on-year and replaced Panasonic, which was in this position last year.


CALB ranked fifth with an installed capacity of 8.6GWh, a year-on-year increase of 31.5%, and a market share of 3.9%. Its ranking moved up two places year-on-year.

Guoxuan High-tech ranked sixth with an installed capacity of 7.7GWh, a year-on-year increase of 86.6%, and a market share of 3.5%. It is the second fastest growing company in the list. Its ranking also moved up three places year-on-year.


South Korea's Samsung SDI ranked seventh with an installed capacity of 7.3GWh, a year-on-year decrease of 17.2%, and a market share of 3.3%.


Japan's Panasonic ranked eighth with an installed capacity of 7.2GWh, a year-on-year decrease of 6.3%, and a market share of 3.3%, and its competitiveness has declined significantly.


EVE Lithium Energy ranked ninth with an installed capacity of 5.7GWh, a year-on-year increase of 59.6%, and a market share of 2.6%.


Honeycomb Energy ranked tenth with an installed capacity of 5.6GWh, a year-on-year increase of 100.2%, and a market share of 2.5%. It is also the only company in the list with a three-digit growth rate.


Overall, in the first quarter, the total market share of the six Chinese companies among the top 10 companies in the world in terms of power battery installation volume reached 67.5%, an increase of 5.2 percentage points from 62.3% in the same period last year.
